George Junior High School Project Scope of Work

1.                  Install new automatic fire alarm system

2.                  Upgrade communication system

4.                  Upgrade HVAC system to meet ASHRAE standards

6.                  Add exhaust system and fume hoods at science rooms

7.                  Enclose open concept classrooms

8.                  Replace ceiling tiles

9.                  Replace remaining roof areas

10.              Replace carpet in cafeteria with tile

11.              Replace carpet in Forum

12.              Renovate girls locker room to create major sports area

13.              Upgrade restrooms to meet ADA code

14.              Upgrade water fountains to meet ADA code

15.              Install new carpet throughout building

16.              Update science labs to meet ADA standards

17.              Add handicap access to teaching forum

18.              Consolidate entry access to improve supervision

19.              Renovate shop areas

20.              Renovate art rooms

21.              Create separation of Asst Principal’s office from reception area

Project Highlights

This project will be a major renovation to allow the school to better handle the growing student population.  Major items include replacement of half of the roof, replacement of the cooling tower, upgrade to the HVAC system, enclose open concept classrooms, ADA upgrades, and finish upgrades.

Gilbane and the Architect, SHW Group have had several meetings with the design committee to discuss the project scope.  In addition, there have been several meetings with the principal and maintenance department to discuss this project.

The project is currently nearing the end of the schematic design phase.  Periodic meetings will take place until the completion of contract documents.
